Giving and Stewardship Campaign 2027

Hands with Tools by Faith Under Construction Text

This year’s Giving and Stewardship theme is about building: God Builds Us, We Build Each Other, We Build for Others. It captures what we aspire to be as individuals as it points us to our aspirations about St. Paul’s, all in three tidy bullet points.

Yet these three ways of building are not as distinct as they might first appear. They overlap and strengthen one another. God builds us as we build relationships through worship, small groups, and classes. We build for one another as these shared experiences deepen our connections and expand our understanding of community. And as we build for the greater community through service and outreach, we often discover unexpected growth within ourselves. In all of this, God is building us even as we build one another up.

It doesn’t matter where you jump in to participate. The effects of our ongoing construction project flow from one element into the next.

We all know that building requires resources: physical space, clergy and staff, and, let’s face it, food. It can be hard to find common ground if you don’t have a common place. St. Paul’s is more than a worship space. We meet in parish groups, classes, and activities that help us build one another, and we host groups and activities from our greater community so we can build for others.

As we look into 2027, we anticipate meaningful challenges. The cost of nearly everything required to operate a parish is increasing—from staffing and building maintenance to utilities, insurance, food, and program expenses. At the same time, we cannot allow rising costs to mean fewer opportunities to worship, gather, serve, and welcome others. When you sit down to evaluate what St. Paul’s has meant to you, we ask that you consider increasing your current pledge or recurring gift by at least 10 percent.

We need your support to continue our mission. Our staff has gotten smaller as the size of our parish is growing larger. This needs to change. We are a self-funded parish, which means that we receive no assistance from the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh. We pay for all of our own programs and initiatives. That’s why every year we ask for your pledge or recurring gift of financial support.

Your pledge or recurring gift is more than a contribution to a budget. It is an investment in the people, programs, and place that allow us to build—faith, community, and a welcome for others.

The building never stops. With your support, neither does our work together. Thank you for helping build what comes next at St. Paul’s.

Yours in Faith,

The Stewardship Commission
