A Message from the Rector: Clergy Team Updates

Dear Friends:

Today is an exciting day, as the Rev. Jane Russomano-Esmonde begins her ministry at St. Paul’s.  Jane will be preaching all services this weekend, and we will welcome her and her spouse Miranda on Sunday, July 12 with a welcome reception following the 9:45AM service.  This reception will also include parishioner Jon Delano interviewing Jane so we can get to know her better.  You can reach Jane at [email protected] and 412-531-7153 x12.

Today, I am delighted to announce that St. Paul’s has called the Rev. Guy Brown to serve as Curate at St. Paul’s, beginning September 1, as part of the Diocesan Curacy program.  He will serve at St. Paul’s 1/4 time, supporting pastoral and liturgical ministries, until June 30, 2027. His ministry will take place largely on Saturdays and Sundays.  Guy has been serving at St. Thomas in Oakmont for the last two years since his ordination in 2024.  Guy also serves as a Chaplain with the VA Healthcare system.  His complete bio in below.

Please join us in giving thanks for Jane and Guy joining our clergy team at St. Paul’s!

Peace,

The Reverend Noah H. Evans
Rector

The Rev. Guy Brown

During college, Guy joined ROTC, excelled, earned a scholarship, completed Airborne School, and graduated with both his degree and a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry. He served fifteen years in the Army Reserves, retiring as a Captain, while building a professional career that spanned hospitality, computer science, and marketing.

Guy was ordained a Deacon on June 1,2024, and a Priest on January 7, 2025. Born in Philadelphia and baptized as an infant at House of Prayer Episcopal Church, Guy later moved with his family to Willingboro, New Jersey at age eleven. He discovered a love for cooking early in life and pursued that passion by attending the Conrad N. Hilton School of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston.

Guy married Kristin L. Alexander in 2007, and together they share six daughters and one grandson. One daughter, Kerry, now rests in heaven and remains a central part of Guy’s sense of call to ministry. He answered that call in 2009. In 2014, Guy and Kristin moved their family from Waldorf, Maryland to Pittsburgh, Kristin’s hometown. Guy attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, graduating in 2021. During this period, he began worshiping at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, where the liturgy reconnected him to his Episcopal roots; he was confirmed there in 2019 and spent six years under the mentorship of the Rev. Jeff Murph.

Guy trained as a chaplain in the VA Healthcare System in Aspinwall, Pennsylvania, where he continues to serve. He is currently preparing for board certification, which he hopes to complete in the fall, and is discerning beginning a Doctor of Ministry program at Howard University either this fall or next spring.

Guy enjoys date nights with Kristin, watching movies with his family, and taking walks with his dog Phoebe and his grandson.
