1. Approximate date you connected with St. Paul’s: Pentecost 2023
2. Other family at St. Paul’s: My husband, Greg Freehling
3. Occupation: Manager at a native plant nursery, Arcadia Natives
4. Do you have prior vestry service? No
5. Past and present church related activities and ministry within and outside the church: Participating in the Tuesday small group, Learning to Pray, Ignatian Way, volunteering to serve meals at Shepherd Wellness and the Property Commission. Oh, and I love the fish fry… the clam chowder is my favorite!
6. Where do you see your passions and gifts strengthening St. Paul’s mission? I am energized about the idea of taking on a role that gives me an opportunity to help strengthen St. Paul’s mission while deepening my faith. I value clear communication, open mindedness and a roll-up-your-sleeves approach. I have a curious and creative mindset that makes nothing impossible in my world (and makes me a good problem solver). I hope to use my gifts to contribute to the church so that we can strategically-grow so others can feel the ‘magic’ of the St. Paul’s community now and in the future.
7. Most transformative moment at St. Paul’s? A few weeks after we started attending St. Paul’s, there were three female clergy on the altar, not just participating in the service, but leading it. It was really an emotional moment for me. I felt represented in a way I had never felt at a church before.
8. Some of the core values of our church are inclusiveness, learning, service, community, social justice, stewardship and faith. Give an example of how you see St. Paul’s demonstrating a commitment to one of these values. I feel like everyplace you look at St. Paul’s there are signs of service… from making meals to collecting food/supplies to mission trips to making sure that our services run smoothly and joyfully. People are using their time and talents to support others inside and outside of the church. It’s a mindset that is woven into fabric of this community.

2. Other family at St. Paul’s: Steve (husband), Preston and Graham (children)
3. Occupation: Nurse Practitioner
4. Do you have prior Vestry service? Yes, I am finishing my first full 3 year term. Prior to that term, I served to complete an open spot for 6 months.
5. Past & present church related activities & ministry within & outside the Church: Currently I am the Senior Warden. Prior to that I have been on / led the Children and Youth and the Stewardship commissions. I have also served as the Secretary of the Vestry. I have served as an usher and as a substitute Sunday School teacher.
6. Where do you see your passions & gifts strengthening St. Paul’s mission? I am very organized and love to get to know everyone at St. Paul’s. I enjoy being a part of each commission and helping those members intertwine with those on other ones. I am a nurse and have a strong passion for caring for others.
7. Most transformative moment at St. Paul’s. Watching my children grow up in the church.
8. Some of the core values of our church are Inclusiveness, Learning, Service, Community, Social Justice, Stewardship and Faith. I love coming to all of the newcomers receptions and hearing the stories of how newcomers are finally in a place where they feel welcome and included no matter who they are.

Frank Horrigan
1 We joined St. Paul’s in about 1998.
2 I have three grown children all of whom live outside of PA. They consider themselves Members Emeritus at St. Paul’s.
3 Retired
4 I have served three Vestry terms, totalling nine years.
5 I currently serve on the Outreach and Spiritual Growth Commissions. I also team teach the St. Paul’s Conformation Class.
6 One of the clear gifts that I have is that I have served on Vestry for several prior terms and I bring a certain amount of institutional memory to the position. I have also enjoyed teaching our confirmation class and getting to know our youth in a setting that encourages open inquiry.
7 My most transformative moment at St. Paul’s is not a moment, per se. It has been my involvement with various small groups, including the Ignitian group and the Mystics class with Ted Babcock. The Mystics group in particular was so very important because it met over Covid and was comprised of remarkable people. We developed into a cohesive, trusting group who started out as acquaintances and became friends.
8 I am going to choose a project that I initiated when I was last on Vestry, because I know it so well. We embarked on a project to retire medical debt from Pennsylvanians who found themselves in financial trouble due to having to incur unexpected medical costs. St. Paul’s partnered with a company that bought unrecoverable medical debt for pennies on the dollar. Rather than trying to collect on the debt, St. Paul’s bought the debt and forgave it. We helped families from all but two counties in PA. We did it in record time. And we did it anonymously. We are a parish with deep pockets. And big hearts.

6. Where do you see your passions & gifts strengthening St. Paul’s mission? I think my 42 years as an attorney, practicing mostly commercial and employment contract law, would allow me to understand and support contractual relationships St. Paul’s might seek to enter. My passion for helping those less fortunate than me, particularly with respect to food security, organizational skills, and willingness to roll up my sleeves and work, strengthen our mission to help our community members in need.
7. Most transformative moment at St. Paul’s: tie between the first time I attended St. Paul’s and saw Rev Erin preach and the first 8:45 baptism I witnessed with all the kids running up to help bless the water.
